Meanwhile, in other news from the under-25 set

A young man in central Florida was arrested for driving under the influence, having crashed his Toyota Scion into mailboxes and other cars.  His mugshot is certainly upbeat.
Collin Daniel, middle name James, so we didn't hit the 6-6-6 trifecta
Sadly, officers couldn't release him with a warning, because his blood alcohol limit was slightly above the legal limit.  In Florida, as is all states, the legal blood alcohol concentration (BAC) is 0.08% (0.04% for commercial drivers).  This individual's BAC registered at 0.316%.  It is unlikely he was a beginner, as levels above 0.15% generally cause those enjoying their first sips of hooch to black out.  However, he still had a way to go to break the world record, which the internet variously pegs at percentages greater than 1 among folks who survived, and over 2 for an unfortunate man from Poland who died in a car accident.  Included among these strange cases of intoxication leading to death is a 45-year-old woman from Taiwan who immersed herself, head above liquid, in a bathtub filled with 40% ethanol (BAC when finally discovered 1.35%).  This was her attempt to ward off infection from the SARS coronavirus, which had reached the level of an epidemic in Asia by early 2003.  It certainly worked, except for the side-effect of absorbing through her skin (or inhaling, from the evaporating alcohol vapor) the equivalent of throwing back 37 shots in one hour.
