Graphically, here's the big problem currently with the Cody Walker recall petitions

Image
Because so many individuals signed BOTH petitions, there are not enough people who signed ONLY Cody Walker's petition to get from Todd Jirsa's 391 validated signatures to the 450 necessary to have a special recall election, UNLESS the same individual rejected from the 391 validated signatures on Todd Jirsa's petition was somehow counted as valid on Cody Walker's petition.

Last half of the Cody Walker recall petitions

Let's get right to the heart of the problem.  391 signatures were validated on Mayor Todd Jirsa's recall petition.  The great majority of people who signed Mayor Todd Jirsa's recall petition also signed Mayor Pro-Tem Cody Walker's recall petition.  So the great majority of these 391 validated signatures were comprised of names of people who also signed the Cody Walker recall petition. The Cody Walker recall petition needed 450 valid signatures to proceed to a special election.  Yet here is the tricky part.  At a minimum (let's say all the valid signatures on Mayor Todd Jirsa's petitions were also valid signatures on Mayor Pro-Tem Cody Walker's petitions), there would need to be 59 people MINIMUM who ONLY signed Cody Walker's petition (and all of them would have to be valid) in order to get to 450 valid signatures.  And there weren't this many people who ONLY signed Cody Walker's recall petition without signing Todd Jirsa's recall petition.
