Can anyone match this output over the last two years?  Jayson Blair, maybe.

The Interweb is calling

Image
And I can only find a few candidates who answered that call.  Apologies if I didn't find you on FB, please send me the link to your website or Twitter or Instagram account. Two of these are from previous runs, three of these are current and were updated in the last month.  Can't find any internet presence for the remaining folks. CDIV WK-S PM WN BMacA

Fellow Parkanians, our long local nightmare is over

Image
Seriously, $25,000 for eight months of what was the point again?  Voted exactly like Cody Rex Walker would have voted over those eight months except on the issue of extending the IGA, which failed anyway.  Next time, how 'bout we send $4 to each Estes Park resident to spend on Prozac or Adderall? and the next nightmare begins.  Of the two candidates running for mayor, one signed the Eric Blackhurst petition in the recall election, with that individual also voting to recall Cody Rex Walker. Of the five candidates running for trustee, one signed both petitions to recall Todd Jirsa and Cody Rex Walker (Carolyn Youngland), and four voted to recall Cody Rex Walker. So this is clearly an electoral slate prompted and promoted by the meetings that took place at the home of Scott Schneider prior to the August vote.  Talk about a powerful voting bloc.  Come April, we'll have only accomplished replacing Betty Hull on the Planning Commission with introducing three new Hull-like m

Why are we pulling this first from the Garbage?

With 25 minutes left before the deadline, two candidates have filed for mayor, and five for trustee.  Four packets are still outstanding.

Why are we hearing this first from the Sky-Hi News?

C'mon, newspaper of record.  You could have updated this story with actual details hours ago.

Ken Zornes to call in sick next three months, can't act or think without direction

Image
Trustee Ken Zornes pixellated (above) And super-pixellated (above) It is a sad but growingly evident truth in Estes Park politics that the first half of an elected official’s term is really more of a performance, the better angel of who the candidate wishes to be (or wishes the electorate to believe, in order to court votes), while the second half is who the person actually is. Trustee Ken Zornes, who will soon be a veteran on the force rather than a wet-behind-the-ears rookie, has suddenly decided implementation of all town board decisions made within a six-month radius of a scheduled election should be withheld until after that election. How else to explain his desire to reverse the outcome of a 4 to 3 vote against extending the current IGA, a vote that found him on the losing side?   Let’s not kid ourselves – If the town board had voted the way Trustee Zornes voted, the way he wanted other board members to vote, he would not be calling for holding off imp

The latest scuttlebutt

The equivalent of a water cooler back when drinking water was actually beer Todd Jirsa has formally announced he will not seek re-election. Wendy Koenig is already out gathering signatures for her mayoral packet. Word on the street is that Ward Nelson is running, and did NOT pick up the packet for his daughter Kirby Nelson-Hazelton. Word on the street is that Eric Blackhurst is NOT running, but let's wait until February 4 for confirmation, shall we? Word on the street is that Charley Dickey is considering a run for either mayor or trustee. As already noted, Barbara MacAlpine and Scott Webermeier are almost certainly running, almost certainly for trustee. Word on the street is that at least one additional individual, a female, is running for trustee.  She has a name, I just didn't recognize it and will wait until the FB page with her dog and bona fides appears.
