Smells like teen spirit
Poway, a suburb of San Diego, is a diverse community, according to Eric Lund, Visit Estes Park's new CEO, who still has yet to respond to an email I sent three weeks ago, which was pretty much just a welcome to Estes Park email, but since it hasn't been responded to yet, has been modified to ask what exactly he did as head of the San Diego East County Chamber to combat anti-Semitism. Here in Estes Park, we just pretend it doesn't exist, and so I wonder if he will continue that approach. Seems like the 19-year-old who killed one person today and injured three others wrote a letter in which he expressed his hatred for Israel. Somewhat like the individual who attended the meet-and-greet for U.S. Senate candidate Andrew Romanoff held in Estes Park last month and expressed their intense dislike for his particular ethnoreligious affiliation. But it's not like we would want to know the name of that person, or put them on a watch list, or anything.
Until someone actually kills someone in Estes Park, we can continue to pretend things like what happened inside Congregation Chabad this morning could never happen here. Hmm Hmmm Hmmm (this is the point where you imagine our fearless local "leaders" humming with their fingers in their ears).
