Those dolts who are still saying this outbreak is nothing compared to influenza, or traffic accidents, are soon to have blood on their hands.  Italy is a smaller version of what is about to happen in the United States, and Italy just lost another 793 souls yesterday.  In 24 hours.  Italy now has a total of nearly 5000 dead.  Tomorrow, it will be over 6000 people dead.  Italy's population is 60,000,000.  Do the math.  For every 10,000 people alive in Italy last month, by tomorrow, one of them will be dead. 

Why?  Because three weeks ago, Italians were running around spouting nonsense like US, saying, "Oh, this is a hoax, oh, this is just like the flu".  Soon enought, 6000+ Italians will no longer saying this. 

If your stupidity here on this side of the Atlantic gets thousands of old folks killed, with hundreds dead in Colorado, I hope they leave detailed instructions with their children and grandchildren on how best to extract revenge.  If you are stupid enough to sign your names to these complaints about taking away your personal freedom to cough and spit and sneeze all over everything and everyone you want, there should be revenge.  And it should be severe.  ("What, this water forced by the gallons down your windpipe causes you to drown?  I had no idea.  What, is that some of your new-fangled biology?") 

One month from now, the death toll in Italy is going to rise to over 60,000.  In the United States next month, if we are lucky, and in the absence of effective treatment, our death toll will be the same. 

This is just the way it is when no other country can provide aid, because every other country save for a few scattered about the globe are dealing with the same situation themselves, and staring into the long shadow cast by Italy, and wondering if their governments and their supply chains and their commercial infrastructure can survive. 

It should be able to survive, our forefathers built it to survive, but no one here in the U.S. every went broke underestimating the sheer stupidity of certain segments of the American population. 

This is no longer a Republican versus Democrat thing.  This is a "too dumb to save versus too principled to lock up the dumb people" thing.  And once the dumb bastards run out of Hot Pockets, they are coming for those people who were smart enough to prepare.  And then the fun will really begin.
