Did Estes Truth suffer a stroke?
Our current spokesperson |
What a philosophy. It's as if ET doesn't understand how the process of advocating for a particular side or a particular set of beliefs works. Resolve in the face of opposition is the mark of a true leader. Not being anti-Loop one minute and endorsing pro-Loop candidates the next (CDIV last go-round, Art Messal in April). ET does understand how elections work, right? If you want to send a message, you endorse and/or vote for people who can carry out that message. Not endorse and vote for the opposition, not just decide, well, I'll sit this election out, and encourage others of like belief to sit this election out, so the opposition can win by a larger majority.
Excuses don't stop the Loop. Printing up and selling yard signs doesn't stop the Loop. Not showing up for the public comments section of town board meetings doesn't stop the Loop. Leadership stops the Loop. Let's demonstrate some leadership, and put the pro-Loop trustees on notice Tuesday that their nonsense will not be tolerated, and those up for re-election, if they choose to run for re-election in 2020, will be one-termers. And let's try to find a legitimate spokesmodel for the no-Loopers, someone who is actually passionate about stopping the Loop, rather than ramping up fervor for it with no conviction when it comes time to actually backing up the big talk. Let's not put our faith in non-Messiahs, whose rebirth and re-energizing is both predictable and unconvincing. Some of us have been against the Loop the entire time, and endorsed and voted for candidates who have been against the Loop the entire time. Not closing up shop when the going got rough, and butterflies proved a bigger distraction.
