Don't Worry Guys, Estes Park Already Has Pikas Waiting With Your Name On Them

Image
You may have had certain accolades and appointments and positions and honorary degrees removed because of your offensive behavior, gentlemen, but you always have a pika in Estes Park waiting and ready to be engraved with your name.  We love crazy criminal behavior involved non-consenting females. Heck, we send kids out purposefully looking for pedophiles on a pedophile scavenger hunt, kind of like sending addicts on a search for opioids in a pharmacy stocked with opioids. Bill, Roman, you are always welcome in Estes Park.  We might even name our new performing arts center after you, if you agree to spend a few days teaching comedy and acting to the kids.

Pika Strikes Back

The 2018 documentary "Roll Red Roll" premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival last month.  In 80 gripping minutes, it recounts the 2012 rape of an incapacitated 16-year-old girl by two Steubenville, Ohio, high school football players, one a quarterback and one a wide receiver, and the near local indifference and blaming of the victim that followed. Ultimately, incriminating YouTube video, along with Facebook and Twitter evidence all provided by the perpetrators themselves, allowed intrepid true-crime blogger Alex Goddard to recreate a real-time account of the six-hour ordeal, bringing the horrific act to the attention of outside reporters and the real world that exists beyond devotion to brand. The documentary will likely never make it to Estes Park, and few Estes Park residents will take the trouble to trudge down to Denver when is plays on the one or two screens there.  Which is a shame, because enablement of rape culture is something Estes Park is struggling with right...

Well, at least he saved the school district water

In the book "One Big Damn Puzzler", author John Harding invents an idyllic South Pacific island where every morning at daybreak, the male inhabitants visit a particular section of beach to relieve themselves en masse.  The beach is referred to (for obvious reasons) as the "Shi**ing Beach", and a visiting American lawyer is initially appalled by the idea of a group dump, while the natives are amused by the American's prudishness regarding a normal everyday activity, as well as fascinated by the gelatinous consistency of his contributions. New Jersey school superintendent Thomas Tramaglini may have recently read this book and decided to start his own branch of the club.  If so, he needs to recruit more members.  Because right now it appears he's in some trouble.  Or, as others might conclude, some deep shi*.  You be the judge: Who the hell is monitoring a high school track at 5:45 in the morning?  Who gets that peach of an assignment?  "Hey Lou, ...

Creighton law school product David Thrower is large and in charge.  This is what we need to see in our community leaders.  Step in and take control.  Govern with a no nonsense, "here's what we're going to do" approach.  Check out the email below.  First day on the job.  Didn't say, "Oh, I'm overwhelmed, I'm just getting my feet on the ground, I'm back from vacation, let me get my bearings (sound like anyone we know?)."  Instead, Judge Thrower made clear, concise suggestions on how municipal court can function better for law enforcement and public citizens alike.  Deferred to the town attorney, as far as acknowledging his existence (or perhaps Town Attorney White has more experience with brain injury).  Personally, I don't really care about the 2019 conference, but this is also the reality of an Estes Park that needs constant reassurance of its place in the world, and I suppose it never hurts to end with a bit of sugar. We need more ...

Rather than post a stock chart, which everyone sees and avoids, I thought I'd lure in unsuspecting readers with an unrelated photo of the late great Rodney Dangerfield, and tell them, given today's confirmatory action, if you are in the market for any reason right now and have no idea what you are doing, or actually envision have to use some of those funds in the next ten years, you need to follow the advice given to Chris Washington in last year's hit movie, and

As people begin to receive their hospital ballots

Image
Could you please post the date and time of arrival in the comments section below? As of 8:30 a.m. Thursday, 3 May 2018 (five days before the election) I have yet to receive a ballot for the May 2018 Park Hospital District board election.

Dow now 10% off all-time high

And likely to drop another 5% before stabilizing mid-May.  For the year, the Dow is down 900 points, but still up over 4000 points since Trump took office.  If I haven't made it abundantly clear over the past two weeks, if you are not interested in a buy and hold strategy, right now is not a good time to be entering the market, and if you haven't sold from when I told you to buy in early April and then told you to get out last week, you definitely need to sell RIGHT NOW if your picks are still in positive territory.  We are soon to test that early-April bottom, and if there is one couplet that even non-traders or non-English speakers or no longer living people can recite by heart, it's along the lines of selling in May and you know the rest. Six month DJI chart follows, if only to reinforce above message.  This is not a pretty picture.  If it were a daily rating of "how things with my new boyfriend/girlfriend are going" you would be entering the potential brea...
